Meeting Minutes - March 21, 2007

The meeting was called at 12:08 p.m., and was attended by 12 members and six guests: Jose de la Torre, Doug Goodman, Don Wiggins, Barbara Nedd, Susan Perez, Ferdonya Henderson, Tania Fragomeno, Brenda Gettig, Jim Tucker, Jessie Wang, Jennifer Ebner, and Matt Greenbergs.

· Sergeant at Arms Ferdonya Henderson led the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced Vice President of Membership Matt Greenbergs.
· Matt called the meeting to order and welcomed guests. Today’s meeting was a demonstration meeting for guests to encourage membership. Matt introduced Toastmaster Brenda Gettig.
· Toastmaster introduced the week’s theme and WOW.
Theme: It’s Magic!
WOW: Inscrutable
Toastmaster welcomed members and guests and asked for self-introductions of those present, encouraging the use of the WOW.
· Ferdonya presented an Educational Moment.
· Toastmaster introduced the day’s speaker.
o Speaker #1, Doug Goodman, presented “A little known fact.”
• Toastmaster introduced Table Topics Master Jennifer Ebner. Jennifer called upon Tania Fragomeno, Matt Greenbergs, guest Fardin Sarraf, and Ferdonya Henderson.
• Toastmaster introduced the day’s General Evaluator, Don Wiggins. Don introduced his team of evaluators and gave an evaluation of the meeting:
o Matt Greenbergs evaluated speaker Doug Goodman.
o Jim Tucker was Grammarian/Ah counter.
o Barbara Nedd was Timer.
• Toastmaster announced best of awards:
o Best Speaker: Doug Goodman.
o Best Evaluator: Don Wiggins
o Best Table Topics Speaker: Guest Fardin Sarraf
• Toastmaster asked for guest’ comments and adjourned the meeting.

Meeting Minutes - March 14, 2007

The meeting was called at 12:07 p.m. and was attended by 13 members and no guests: Rhonda Walthall, Ferdonya Henderson, Tania Fragomeno, Jim Tucker, Darcy Konold, Doug Goodman, Jessie Wang, Matt Greenbergs, Brenda Gettig, Barbara Nedd, Susan Perez, Jose de la Torre, and Hannah Zhao.

· Theme: The Leprechaun vs. O’Malley
· WOW: Pithily
· Sergeant-at-arms Ferdonya Henderson led the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced President Rhonda Walthall.
· President Walthall opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. The meeting was set up as a mock trial. The case story “The Leprechaun vs. O’Malley” was explained. Attendees picked roles out of a grab bag. The roles were as follows:
· Judge: President Walthall
· Bailiff: Matt Greenbergs
· Prosecutor: Jim Tucker
· Plaintiff (Leprechaun): Barbara Nedd
· Prosecution Witness: Susan Perez
· Defense Attorney: Brenda Gettig
· Defendant (Martha O’Malley): Tania Fragomeno
· Defense Witness: Jessie Wang
· Jury Foreman: Doug Goodman
· Jury: Hannah Zhao and Ferdonya Henderson
· Timer: Darcy Konold
· The prosecution and defense had five minutes to prepare their stories. Opening statements were given by the prosecution, Jim Tucker, and the defense, Brenda Gettig. The attorneys each called two witnesses and had the opportunity to cross examine: Barbara Nedd, Susan Perez, Tania Fragomeno, and Jessie Wang. The prosecution and defense gave closing statements. All statements by the role players were given impromptu.
· The jury met to deliberate. They found the defendant not guilty.
• Judge Walthall adjourned the meeting.

Meeting Minutes - Mar 7, 2007

March 7, 2007
The meeting was called at 12:05 p.m. and was attended by nine members and five guests, including two guest speakers: Rhonda Walthall, Ferdonya Henderson, Tania Fragomeno, Jim Tucker, Darcy Konold, Doug Goodman, Jessie Wang, Rob Cross, and Don Wiggins.

· Sergeant-at-arms Ferdonya Henderson led the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced President Rhonda Walthall.
· President Walthall opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. She introduced Toastmaster Don Wiggins.
· Toastmaster introduced the theme, Weather or Not, and the WOW, supine. Self-introductions were skipped to allow sufficient time for speakers.
· The first speech was a guest presentation by Dr. Julia Taylor of Stadium Toastmasters.
· The second speech was a guest presentation by Peter Holmes, representing the central division at an upcoming speech contest. Attendees provided a round robin evaluation of Peter’s speech.
· Toastmaster introduced Table Topics Master Ferdonya Henderson. Ferdonya called upon Rob Cross, Jim Tucker, guest Tony, and guest Susan. Jim Tucker received the Table Topics award.
• Toastmaster introduced the General Evaluator, Doug Goodman. Doug introduced his team of evaluators and later evaluated the meeting:
o Darcy Konold evaluated Dr. Taylor’s speech.
o Rhonda Walthall provided the grammarian/ah counter’s report.
o Jessie Wang provided the timer’s report.
• Toastmaster returned the meeting to President Walthall. President Walthall announced the upcoming central division contest, to be held at Miramar College on March 17, and announced next week’s mock trial meeting. Roles will be assigned using a grab bag. The theme is Leprechaun vs. O’Mally. President Walthall adjourned the meeting.

Meeting Minutes - Feb 28, 2007

Feb. 28, 2007
The meeting was called at 12:05 p.m. and was attended by nine members and one guest: Rhonda Walthall, Ferdonya Henderson, Tania Fragomeno, Jim Tucker, Hannah Zhao, Darcy Konold, Matthew Greenbergs, Jose de la Torre, Don Wiggins, and guest Barbara Ned.

· Sergeant-at-arms Ferdonya Henderson led the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced President Rhonda Walthall.
· President Walthall opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. The week’s theme is “Pure Rhetoric.” She introduced Toastmaster Matt Greenbergs.
· Toastmaster introduced the format of today’s meeting. Jim Tucker will be the sole speaker for this meeting - he will be practicing his speech for the International Speech Contest. Attendees will participate in a round robin evaluation of Jim’s speech. Toastmaster led the meeting with self-introductions.
· Jim presented a draft of his contest speech. Attendees evaluated the speech and Jim reviewed the evaluations and discussed how he may incorporate them into the speech.
· Toastmaster conducted Table Topics. He called upon Don Wiggins, Tania Fragomeno, Ferdonya Henderson and guest Barbara. Tania received the Table Topics award.
• Toastmaster returned the meeting to President Walthall.
• President Walthall announced the upcoming international speech and evaluation contests, to be held March 3 and March 17. The club will be donating a gift for the contest raffles. President Walthall adjourned the meeting.
