12:10: Sergeant at Arms Ferdonya Henderson called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
12:11: President Rhonda Walthall opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Rhonda, performing the role as Toastmaster, introduced the week’s theme and WOW.
Theme: If I were rich
WOW: Munificent
12:14: Self-introductions – Introduce and explain what you would do if you were rich.
12:20: Toastmaster introduced the day’s first speaker, Doug Goodman.
12:21: The purpose of Doug’s speech was “show what you mean.” Doug related being a Toastmaster to learning how to fly and being a pilot. Flying takes mental and physical power and good communication skills – also traits of a well-trained Toastmaster!
12:30: Toastmaster introduced the day’s second speaker, Jim Tucker.
12:31: Jim’s speech titled “Good to Great” focused on the three major steps we can take to be a GREAT human being and Toastmaster. Jim recommends finishing the CTM and Advanced Speaker series and maintaining a schedule of completing 10 speeches per year. He also suggests figuring out which functionary positions in a Toastmaster meeting make us feel “safe” and “unsafe” and volunteering to fill “unsafe” roles in meetings. And lastly he suggests brainstorming a list of special moments and memories from our lives – these make great speech topics! People love to hear personal stories and experiences from speakers.
12:45: Toastmaster introduced Table Topics Master Molly Frisbie. Molly called upon Natalie, Hannah and Darcy.
12:50: Toastmaster introduced the day’s General Evaluator, Ferdonya. Ferdonya introduced her team of evaluators:
