Meeting Minutes

Minutes

The meeting was called at 12:05, and was attended by nineteen members, guests and new guests, including: Rhonda Walthall, Alfred Balagtas, Matt Greenbergs, Jose de la Torre, Doug Goodman & Dexter, Arnold Ah Yuen, Darcy Konold, Dick Larkin, Molly Frisbie, Norma Toothman, Hannah, Jim Ticker, Dee Williams, Stephen Jaworski, Fabio, Rob Cross, Florence Huang, and Natalie Willimas.

12:05 Sergeant at Arms Alfred Balagtas led the pledge of allegiance.

12:06 Alfred introduced the President Darcy Konold.

12:07 The President introduced the Toastmaster of the Day, Molly Frisbie.

12:08 Molly introduced the theme of the day ("The Superbowl",) and WOW. ("Obviate - To prevent by interception; to anticipate and dispose of or make unnecessary. Molly welcome members and new guest, and invited everybody to introduce themselves talking about the Superbowl, and using the WOW, which was well used during the introductions.

12:18 Molly called to the lectern the VP of Education, Rhonda Walthall, to open the International Speech Contest meeting.

12:20 Doug Goodman, Chief Judge, explained the rules of the contest.

12:23 Doug called Matt to explain the timer's role.

12:24 The Toastmaster, Molly, introduced the 1st contestant, Jim Tucker. Theme: "Accepting the Challenge."

12:33 Molly introduced the 2nd contestant, Dick Larkin. Theme: "One Little Decision."

12:40 Molly introduced the 3rd contestant Stephen Jaworski. Theme: "The Likeness."

12:49 Molly asked to fill the ballots.

12:50 Toastmaster, Molly, interviewed all the contestants, Jim, Dick & Stephen, who share their experience as Toastmasters.

12:59 Molly announced the results of contest:
Runner-up -Dick Larkin
Winner -Jim Tucker

13:01 Announcements: Matt announced that Rancho Bernardo HS is needing judges for 2-25-06.

13:04 Molly adjourned the meeting.

WOW: Curling – An Olympic winter sport popular in Canada which involves moving a polished granite stone across ice into a ring. Ex. The Royal Montreal Curling Club, the first sporting club of any kind in North America, was established in 1807.
